Proposal for Three Division Sponsored Sessions 1) Family Formation versus SNAF (Standard North American Family) Model (Papers in the Round) 2) The Role of Fathers in 21st Century Families (Critical Dialogue) 3) Changing Institution of Marriage (Regular Session) Co-Sponsored Sessions 1) Reproduction Legislation Impacts on Family (Gender or Sexual Behavior, Politics, and Communities) 2) Covid and the Family (Racial and Ethnic Minorities) 3) Intergenerational Trauma (Youth, Aging and the Life Course) 4) Parenting Gender Nonconforming Children (Gender) 5) Family Violence (Crime and Juvenile Delinquency) 6) Families and Homelessness (Educational Problems, Community Research, Conflict, Social Action and Change, Law and Society) Activities: Forum(s) – inviting activists, filmmakers, social workers, case workers, healthcare professionals to present special topics or sessions. Recruitment We propose electing a Social Media Coordinator and paying them a stipend of $50. Their role will be to create social media accounts to advertise Family division of SSSP to build clout, recruit new members, and sustain the division. The Social Media Coordinator will use such media as Twitter, Tick Tock (maybe), Facebook, and Instagram. Member Recruitment –Individually, we will advertise the Family division at our respective institutions with colleagues, students and in meeting sessions. Budget – We propose to revise our 2022-23 Budget in the following amounts: 1. Stipend to Division Newsletter Editor $100 2. Stipend to Division Social Media Coordinator $50 3. Cash Award to the Division’s Graduate Student Paper Competition Winner $150 4. Cash Award to Student Paper Runner-Up $50 5. Plaque to Student Paper Runner-Up $50 6. Scholarship Award $100 7. Division-Sponsored Reception at the Annual Meeting $100 TOTAL $600 Division Meeting 2023 We propose to host the 2023 Family division meeting using a Hybrid Format – In Person/Virtual.
