Josephine Greenbrook and Ginger Berndt volunteered; Bill Cabin also volunteered in advance of the meeting. > Outstanding Scholarship Award Committee * The Division’s Outstanding Scholarship award that was given in the past was not awarded this year (2021-2022), but has been included in the budget for 2022-2023. * Volunteers needed for 2022-2023. > Newsletter editor * We requested a $100 stipend for a Division newsletter editor for 2022-2023, which is consistent with what other Divisions do. Pending approval of the budget, we will release a call for nominations to Division members. > Co-Chair to begin in August 2023 (2023-2025 term) – nominations accepted through November 2022. > Call for nominations/volunteers for these positions will be sent to all Division members. * Reviewed 2022 Annual Meeting Agenda for the Health Division * Discussed 2023 Annual Meeting Planning > Discussion of sole-and co-sponsored sessions for 2023 meeting * Potential sessions suggested: * Session/critical dialogue session on migration, medicine, & law * Session/critical dialogue session on health implications of disaster/climate change/environmental degradation and/or a session on war, conflict, and health. * Session/critical dialogue session on sexual/reproductive health in public health and health care policy * Session on the health and well-being of practitioners and the medical community * Session/critical dialogue session on e-health delivery/biotechnology/medical devices * Session on decolonizing health care/global health care delivery/diagnostics * Session on health systems and institutional health care equity * Josephine Greenbrook is willing to organize a critical dialogue panel that includes clinicians and representatives from a local Philadelphia organization focused on migrant healthcare (e.g., Migration, Medicine, & the Law) * Potential to co-sponsor a session with other divisions, including Family; Children, Youth, & Aging; Global Studies. * Division Co-Chairs will take these session suggestions to the Council of Chairs meetings at the SSSP conference in Los Angeles for discussion with other divisions. * Broad topics better to offer perspective from global south scholars and also attract more submissions * SSSP could not accommodate virtual sessions at the 2022 conference, but there was a discussion of the fact that virtual sessions make conference participation more accessible for members and an interest in pursuing virtual opportunities in future years. * Call for volunteers to organize sessions * All attendees were willing to organize a session, and the co-chairs will follow up with them. Another call for organizers will also be extended to the Division membership after the 2022 annual meeting. * Reviewed 2023 Division budget > Suggestion to potentially increase the stipend for newsletter editor to $150 in future years. > Suggestion to reconfigure the Outstanding Scholarship Award * Instead of framing the award for a senior scholar, members suggested the award might be reframed for an earlier-career scholar, or may be broadened to recognize a more holistic range of contributions (e.g., consider candidates whose outstanding work in mentoring, community engagement, social activism has really made great impacts on others – “Pathmaker Award”). There was agreement among attendees that a reconceptualized award would be preferable to its current form. * The Co-Chairs will check with the SSSP office regarding procedures for changing the award. The Outstanding Scholarship Award committee can discuss changes to the award during the coming year, and develop a proposal that Division members could vote to approve at next year’s business meeting. * Meeting adjourned at 3:10 p.m.
