Society for the Study of Social Problems Crime and Justice Division Business Meeting July 22, 2026, on Zoom. * Attendance was eight members. * The meeting opened with introductions by Division Chair Rafia Mallick, Associate Chair Jennifer Carpenter, and Chair-elect Kelly Tabbutt. * The division recognized the 2026 Graduate Student Paper Award recipient, Michael Zanger-Tishler, for their paper: “State Data and the Production of Quantitative Knowledge: The Case of Police Stops in the United States and France.” The chair acknowledged the award committee and thanked the committee chair, Stephani Williams, and members (Kevin Dahaghi, Jordan Grasso, Lloyd Klein, Olaitan Faysal, Karen Lancaster-Ellis) for their service. * The division also recognized the recipient of the Scholarly Achievement Award, Joachim Savelsberg. The chair thanked the award committee chair, Lois Presser, and members (Popy Begum, Kelly Tabbutt, Cassy Gonzalez, Diana Veloso). Professor Savelsberg addressed the division, expressing appreciation for the recognition and reflecting on his career and contributions. * Members were informed that the Crime and Justice Division sponsored 13 sessions during the 2026 SSSP annual meeting. Thanks were extended to the organizers, discussants, panel chairs, and presenters. * For the 2027 annual meeting themed "Building Communities for Radical Change," the division will sponsor three sessions and co-sponsor five. Members brainstormed possible topics, potential co-sponsoring divisions, and identified possible organizers. Potential organizers agreed to submit session descriptions by August 2, 2026.
