As your first Gender Division Chair, I look forward to the Annual SSSP Meeting in New York. I wish I was better with my prose at introducing myself, I tend to get right to business with these newsletters as I know we are all busy. I am an Associate Professor. Currently my research includes two autoethnographies about the sandwich generation and sport. In addition, I am conducting interviews with faculty who participated in a higher education strike and will begin an oral histories project on female martial artists.

The newly formed Gender Division will meet for the first time this year in New York. This is an important meeting as this will be the first for the division and it is a time where we can discuss sessions for 2020 in San Francisco. In addition, we will need to establish a paper award and its criteria. Please forward any agenda items to me by August 1, 2019.

This is a short and first newsletter for the division. I encourage division members to forward items they wish to be included in the newsletter.

I am asking for a call from the division membership to supply your 3 most relevant gender references and the area of gender they represent. Please submit your references by August 1, 2019.

Call for Media Coordinator

The newly formed Gender Division is looking for a media coordinator. Please forward nominations or self-nominations to Giovanna Follo, giovanna.follo@gmail.com. A stipend will be provided. The media coordinator will be responsible for 2 annual newsletters and maintaining a Facebook page with a monthly post.
