Chair: Giovanna Follo Wright State University – Lake Campus As you have heard by now SSSP, along with ASA, has cancelled the 2020 Annual Meeting that was to take place in San Francisco. I understand this is a disappointment as many look forward to seeing their colleagues and friends during this time. As a member of the Board of Directors, this is not a decision that was taken lightly but one that was made with thoughtful reflection as to the best interests of the membership. However, this is just a moment in time, a time that will pass. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. While we practice physical distancing, even as we begin to "open" society again, we should not socially distance. In a time of great technology, use it to keep in touch with your family and friends. Check on people's mental and physical health. As we know, a gendered lens can be utilized within every aspect of society; this is no exception. That being said, please forward any links, articles, data, etc. to us so we can provide a forum for a discussion of "Gender and Covid 19" for the gender division membership. For those of you who are new to SSSP we encourage you to come and meet us in person at the Gender Division committee meeting in Chicago. Being an active committee member not only is a great anchor for navigating the often overwhelming atmosphere of a conference but it’s a great way to give your ideas of what content you want to see in future conferences. Let us know if you have any questions - and definitely keep your eye out for the upcoming news of a potential virtual session! Gender and COVID-19 Our research on gender is essential, we would like to recommend a variety of letters, think pieces, and articles that might guide us all in this period of crisis: * What does feminist leadership look like in a pandemic? By Leila Billing * Why imagination is the most powerful tool that feminists have at our disposal - By Lola Olufemi * Women Peace and Security in the Time of Corona - Sanam Naraghi Anderlini A summary of action items… ____ Holding and Event or have some great news to share?
