Grover, Ph.D. Founding President of Assisi House, Inc. Assisi House, Inc received a $45000 grant to work with young women and their families vulnerable to the health effects of racism and community trauma here in Baton Rouge this summer. ReCAST, a grant given to Baton Rouge City-Parish, selected us as one of their community partners in addressing the current 12 year life span between those in the northern impoverished side of the city and the thriving southern section. We will be conducting a pilot program that we hope to make a permanent part of the fabric of the community. Assisi House, Inc. had our first ever Art of Resistance conference, which used storytelling techniques and healing writing to tell stories around race, health inequities and public health. It was a success, and we look forward to doing it again next year. We are also happy to announce that we offer workshops in narrative healing and narrative community work that combines creative writing, art, science, and community organizing for organizations, small groups, universities and beyond. We are happy to work with anyone who seeks training, healing or simply a learning experience.
