I also hope to see some of you at the Divisional Meeting (see below for details). I welcome your input on planning sessions for next year and how to continue to revitalize the Division. As always, please encourage your colleagues, students, and friends to join YALC. I remain eager to build our membership and help create a vibrant community of scholars, teachers, and activists who are working on issues related to youth, aging, and the life course. See you soon! CONGRATULATIONS Please join me in congratulating the co-winners of the Division’s Best Graduate Student Paper Award and the inaugural winner of the Maggie Kuhn Award. Best Graduate Student Paper Award This year, we had many very fine nominations for the Best Graduate Student paper award. Ultimately, after careful deliberation, the selection committee decided to select co-winners: Angelina Grigoryeva and Natasha Yurk Quadlin. Congratulations! * Angelina Grigoryeva, Princeton University (Advisor: Paul DiMaggio): “Own Gender, Sibling’s Gender, Parent’s Gender: The Division of Elderly Parent Care among Adult Children” * Natasha Yurk Quadlin, Indiana University (Advisor: Brian Powell): “Gender and Time Use in College: Converging or Diverging Pathways?” The co-winners are both on the program and will be presenting their papers. Please look for them in our Youth, Aging, and Life Course sessions (see below). I want to thank the members of the selection committee—Ann Beutel (The University of Oklahoma), Jennifer Keene (University of Nevada-Las Vegas), Meredith Kleykamp (University of Maryland), and Jeylan Mortimer (University of Minnesota)—who worked with me to select the co-winners. Maggie Kuhn Scholar-Activist Award The inaugural winner of the Maggie Kuhn Award is Dr. Karen Lincoln (University of Southern California, School of Social Work; https://sowkweb.usc.edu/faculty/karen-lincoln). Congratulations! The Maggie Kuhn award was established in 2014, and is awarded to a scholar-activist who upholds the ideals of social and economic justice and peace for individuals of all ages in both their scholarship and service.   Thanks to those who nominated people for this award this year, and to Meika Loe (Colgate University) and Richard Settersten, Jr. (Portland State University), who served with me on the Maggie Kuhn Award selection committee.
