PRIVACY POLICY
The Society for the Study of Social Problems, Inc, (SSSP) respects your privacy and we take it extremely seriously. We take great pride in being honest, fair, respectful, and courteous to each and every member. We will not rent, sell or exchange your email address unless you have given permission (NOTE: There is a checkbox option on the membership form to make your information private).
SSSP gathers two types of information about Internet visitors:
- Information that visitors provide through optional, voluntary submissions. These are voluntary submissions to purchase products, participate in online surveys, and our contact forms.
- Information gathered through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout the SSSP website.
We do not collect any of your personal information unless you provide it to us. In addition, your credit card information will not be saved for any reason. Any information that you provide to us will only be used to better serve your needs and to make your membership experience more complete. We follow this policy not just because it is the law, but because we believe that it is the right thing to do.
REFUND POLICIES
ANNUAL MEETING: Registration fees will be refunded to persons who notify us that they will not attend the Annual Meeting prior to July 15. Once the participant packets have been prepared, processing costs have occurred. Unfortunately, under no circumstances will SSSP issue refunds for no-shows.
MEMBERSHIP DUES: Membership dues are non-refundable.
SAFETY AND SECURITY POLICY
The Society for the Study of Social Problems applications use encryption and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security features to prevent your personal information from being read as it passes over the Internet when you make credit card payments. SSL scrambles and safeguards your personal information so that only your web browser and our Web site’s server can decipher it. Your online password adds another layer of security to your personal information.
You may receive messages from your Web browser indicating that you are moving between secure and insecure pages while placing your order. This is normal. Refer to your Web browser’s help files for more information about security levels.
These measures make it very unlikely that your credit card information will be compromised online. However, in the event of an unauthorized use of your credit card, notify your credit card provider or issuing bank in accordance with its reporting rules and procedures. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, your responsibility for fraudulent charges is limited to $50.00.
We ensure that you are at minimal risk when you join/renew your SSSP membership or register for the Annual Meeting. In the extremely unlikely case of fraud, we will assume responsibility for fraudulent SSSP Membership and SSSP Annual Meeting charges and work with your credit card company to resolve the issue.
If you would prefer to telephone us with your credit card information, you can call 1-865-689-1531. Our staff is available Monday through Friday. You may also mail your form to:
