It’s cheaper for me to stay somewhere else.”
The SSSP office often gets asked this question,
so we wanted to explain why staying at the SSSP not only helps individual members,
but is good for our organization as a whole.
Reasons to Stay at the Sheraton
- FIRST AND FOREMOST, it is the center of all conference activities, making it much easier to network, catch up with old friends, make new ones, and to attend sessions, meetings, and functions – including the awards ceremony and receptions.
- At the conference hotel, you will run into people in the common areas, and sometimes these happenstance interactions can lead to meaningful relationships and opportunities.
- Staying in the hotel is convenient, allowing you to easily run back to your room to get something you forgot, drop off excess baggage, or just simply to relax in your own space for a bit.
- When you stay at the conference hotel, you help SSSP meet its room obligation, which reduces overall conference costs. This means we can devote more resources to direct benefits to members.

Confirmed Room Rates (Deluxe Accommodations)
$275.00 (CAD) per night, Single, Double, Triple or Quadruple Occupancy - King or Double-bedded Rooms.
All rates subject to a 3.5% occupancy tax, a 5% federal tax and a 9.975% provincial tax.
How to Make a Reservation
Please call their toll-free Reservations #1-800-325-3535. Be sure to request the SSSP - 2024 Annual Conference room rate. Reservations can also be made via the SSSP Reservation Link:
Book your group rate for The Society for the Study of Social Problems
Kindly note, guestroom reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card. Check-in is 3:00pm and Check-out is noon. Cancellation policy is 72 hours prior to arrival.
The reservation cut-off date for the SSSP’s group rate is July 8, 2024. Reservations must be confirmed by this date to guarantee our negotiated group room rate. Reservations received after or if the room block is filled prior to that date are subject to availability or increased rate.
