This thematic session on Law and Violence presents new work on the boundaries of problematic social systems with a focus on the law. The presenters ask these questions: When does “stop and frisk” become “stop and sexually harass?” When does a prison become a nursing home for elderly prisoners? When do immigration laws interrupt family ties? When does human trafficking law make sex trafficking the priority? When does politics become violent?
