Nominations for the 2022 C. Wright Mills Award
Nominations are now open for the 2022 C. Wright Mills Award. Members of the Society are encouraged to submit letters of nomination for this prestigious annual award. Self-nominations are acceptable. Authors and/or nominators do not need to be current members of SSSP. Edited volumes, textbooks, fiction and self-published works are not eligible. Eligible books must be first edition (not a reprint or later edition) and bear a 2022 copyright. Exceptions may be made for a book bearing a 2021 copyright, but that was not released until 2022 for the first time. The C. Wright Mills Award, established in 1964, is made annually and carries with it a stipend of $1,000 for the author(s) of the winning book. The deadline for award nominations is December 15, 2022.

Please allow us to showcase your non-peer-reviewed work (e.g., writings, legislative testimony, media appearances, podcasts, op-eds, letters to the editor, and blog writings found in local, state, national, and international arenas. When submitting items, please include a link, and if possible, without a paywall, with each submission and a one-sentence description. SSSP Executive Officer Search (application deadline: 10/15/22)
The Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP) is seeking applicants for the position of Executive Officer.
Interested SSSP members in good standing may apply. Applications must be sent to the SSSP’s Administrative Officer and Meeting Manager, Michele Koontz, at mkoontz3@utk.edu. As a social justice organization, the SSSP seeks a diverse applicant pool for the position. Applications received by October 15, 2022 will receive full consideration.

Entrepreneurship Issues Forum
We hope to see you at our upcoming webinar, “The power of partnership: Forming strong research and community partnerships," on September 22 at 11 a.m. CT.
This forum will highlight six research teams from Kauffman’s Community Engaged research cohort who will share their experiences in designing research with partnerships in mind, forming strong community partnerships, as well as the challenges or pitfalls that other researchers should be aware of before engaging in this approach to research production.

Early-Stage Researcher Professional Development Series
The Kauffman Foundation will be hosting the next virtual Early-Stage Researcher Professional Development session will take place on Friday, September 30 at 1 p.m. CT with Rachel Atkins . She will be talking about her background, the job market, her first year as a professor as well as her experiences and what she has learned so far as an early career faculty member.
This series is open to 25 early-stage researchers.

Results of the Vote on the 2022 Proposed Resolution
Thank you to those who voted on the 2022 Proposed Resolution. 226 votes were cast. The Expression of Gratitude Resolution passed. Per the Society’s By-Laws, a resolution passes if two-thirds of the members voting online by the deadline, vote in favor of the resolution. Abstentions count as no votes.
