Lee Student Support Fund
The deadline to apply for the Lee Student Support Fund is March 15, 2026.
HISTORY
In recognition of Al Lee’s commitment to social justice and his critical contributions to the Society for the Study of Social Problems, the Lee Student Support Fund was established to facilitate conference attendance by undergraduate and graduate students.
Thirty awards of $500 each will be granted for student travel support. Eligible expenses include transportation costs, luggage fees, hotel, per diem, or other costs not directly associated with airfare, rail, or driving between the applicant’s university and the conference location.
In addition to demonstrated need, preference will be given to students who are ABD and/or nearing completion of their Ph.D. The committee may also consider the Society’s commitment to diversity, the applicant’s commitment to scholar-activism, and interdisciplinary work, among other factors. Awardees must pick up their checks at the SSSP Annual Meeting.
