SSSP Mentoring Programs, application deadline: June 30

SSSP is pleased to announce two mentoring programs. The SSSP Mentoring Program is designed to facilitate interaction between members of SSSP who wish to be paired with a mentor or mentee. The primary objective of this program is to facilitate connections between mentors and mentees for at least 1-year (summer 2022-summer 2023). To become a mentor or mentee, complete the appropriate application form. Application deadline: June 30

The Meeting Mentor Program is designed to facilitate interaction between new members or graduate students and veterans at the annual meeting. If you are interested in serving as a mentor or being matched with a mentor in Philadelphia, complete the appropriate online application form. Application deadline: June 30

Nominate a Colleague for a SSSP Faculty Award, application deadline: April 15

Please consider nominating a colleague for one of the SSSP faculty awards: Arlene Kaplan Daniels Paper Award, Doris Wilkinson Faculty Leadership Award, Joseph B. Gittler Award, Kathleen S. Lowney Mentoring Award, and Lee Founders Award. The deadline for each award is April 15.

Travel Funds to Attend the Annual Meeting, application deadline March 15

Apply for one of the travel fund awards for the upcoming annual meeting. All applicants must be a 2023 SSSP member when applying. Click here to join or renew. The Erwin O. Smigel Award Committee announces funds available for unemployed and underemployed sociologists. The Lee Scholar Support Fund Committee announces funds available for non-U.S. based international scholars from politically, economically, and culturally oppressed groups in countries not considered part of the Global South. The Lee Student Support Fund Committee announces funds available for undergraduate and graduate students. The Transnational Initiatives Committee announces funds available for international scholars from the Global South.

Scholars at Risk Network Information Sharing “Drop-in” Sessions: February 16th - June 15th, 2023

Beginning on February 16th, SAR will be offering a new opportunity for connection and discussion within the network. Sessions will be held roughly every two weeks, on the first and third Thursdays of the month. We hope to create an informal, informative, and practical space for network members and partners to ask questions and to share information, experience, good practices, and resources. Racial/Ethnic Minority Graduate Fellowship–Deadline 2/1/23

Online applications for the Racial/Ethnic Minority Graduate Fellowship must be finalized no later than 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time) on February 1, 2023. Two students will be awarded a $15,000 fellowship with an additional $500 awarded for attendance at the SSSP Annual Meeting. Complete applications must be received tonight to be considered.
