Racial/Ethnic Minority Graduate Scholarship - deadline 2/1/16

The Racial/Ethnic Minority Graduate Scholarship deadline is February 1, 2016 (http://www.sssp1.org/index.cfm/m/261). The purpose of the scholarship is to identify and support developing minority scholars who exemplify and give fresh voice to the SSSP history and commitment to scholar activism. Submit a paper for the SSSP 2016 Annual Meeting-Deadline 1/31/16

Submit a paper for the SSSP 2016 Annual Meeting, http://www.sssp1.org/index.cfm/m/655/fuseaction/ssspsession2.publicView.  The deadline is midnight (EST) on January 31, 2016.

 

Apply today for one of the SSSP Division’s Student Paper Competitions or Outstanding Scholarship Awards, http://www.sssp1.org/index.cfm/m/296. The deadline for all Student Paper Competitions is midnight (EST) on January 31, 2016. In order to be considered for any of the Student Paper Competitions, applicants are required to submit their papers through the Annual Meeting Call for Papers, http://www.sssp1.org/index.cfm/m/655/. This will ensure that winning papers are both designated and included in the program. Please note that students may only submit to one division and that each division has its own deadline and submission process. The deadline for the Outstanding Scholarship Awards varies across divisions.

The February issue of Social Problems is now available on the SSSP website for all members. Please visit our website at www.sssp1.org or follow the members-only link below for complimentary electronic access. All issues from 1953 - current are available. Members are required to login using your e-mail and password. If you have forgotten your password, you may enter your e-mail address below the log-in area and your password will be e-mailed to you. Letter of Concern to the College of Saint Rose

On behalf of SSSP's Board of Directors, Executive Officer Héctor Delgado wrote to express grave concerns about the decision made by the Board of Trustees of the College of Saint Rose to eliminate 27 academic programs, including Sociology, and to terminate the Sociology Department’s newest tenure-track professor. Click here to read the letter sent to the College of Saint Rose President Carolyn J.
