All proposed resolutions will be discussed during the Society’s Business Meeting on Friday, August 8 from 10:30am-11:45am (Central Time). Thirty minutes will be allocated to a discussion in favor of or in opposition to all proposed resolutions. At this juncture, resolutions cannot be modified. The purpose of the discussion will be to seek clarification or to try to convince others to vote for or against the resolution. The discussion will be moderated by the Vice-President, with the assistance of the Executive Officer. Every effort will be made to allow time for the discussion of each resolution being considered, with equal time to those in support of and those in opposition to each resolution.

Immediately after the Society’s Annual Business Meeting, current members will vote online for or against each resolution, or abstain. The voting period will be two weeks. A resolution will pass if two-thirds of the members voting online by the deadline vote in favor of the resolution. The final results of the vote shall be reported to the Committee on Social Action and the Board of Directors, and published as early as possible on the Society’s website.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the officers, committee chairs, staff, and members who helped make this program possible and whose efforts sustain the vitality of the Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP).

A special thank you to President Rose M. Brewer for her exemplary leadership in developing the 75th Anniversary Annual Meeting and its theme, Insurgent Sociology in a Time of Crises.

The Society thanks Program Committee Chair Assata Zerai and committee members Melanie E.L. Bush, Walda Katz-Fishman, and Rahsaan H. Mahadeo for organizing an outstanding program. Our gratitude is extended to the Local Arrangements Committee Chair Kayla M. Martensen and her committee–Iolanthe Brooks, Tia Dickerson, and Teresa Irene Gonzales (advisory role). We also thank the staff of the Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel, for our fine accommodations, with special recognition to Maddy Coleman, Senior Sales Manager, and Dani Reed, Senior Event Manager.

The Society wishes to express its gratitude to Past President Mary Bernstein for her years of leadership; Vice-President David J. Luke for managing the resolutions process; Glenn Muschert (outgoing) for fifteen years of outstanding service as Secretary; and Heather E. Dillaway for her dedicated service as Treasurer.

The diligent efforts of the Board of Directors, along with the prudent oversight of Treasurer Heather E. Dillaway and the Budget, Finance, and Audit Committee, have been instrumental in ensuring the continued viability and fiscal health of our organization.
