Join SSSP!

Joining SSSP as a new member or renewing your existing membership offers many benefits. SSSP is an interdisciplinary community of scholars, practitioners, advocates, and students. Anyone who is interested in or already involved in the application of critical, scientific, and humanistic perspectives to the study of vital social problems is welcome. If you are involved in scholarship or action in pursuit of a just society nationally or internationally, join SSSP. Membership is open to all who support SSSP's goals.

Divisions

Each member will receive a free division membership and student members will receive two free division memberships. Members may choose additional divisions at $10 each, which can be added after joining or renewing your membership. Membership in the divisions allows current members to vote, receive newsletters, and opportunities for networking and engagement with division colleagues.

Membership Dues

SSSP memberships are based on a calendar year and run from January 1 to December 31. Gross annual income should be used to determine the proper dues category. Please read all of the categories and select the one closest to your situation. Dues are payable to SSSP in U.S. currency. We accept checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Membership dues are non-refundable.

Committee Participation

The SSSP depends upon strong member participation in all aspects of SSSP’s operations and are especially grateful for those who are able and willing to serve the Society.

Tax-Deductible Contributions

The SSSP is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization and accepts tax-deductible contributions both in support of its general operations and for specific purposes.

Awards

The SSSP is proud to recognize outstanding scholars, practitioners, advocates, and students who demonstrate active pursuit in the application of critical, scientific, and humanistic perspectives to the study of vital social problems. Recipients are selected by committees, typically in the spring.

SSSP Sustaining Members

Together, we can make a difference. Sustaining members enjoy the many benefits of a SSSP membership without the annual dues – all while helping the Society fulfill its purpose in pursuit of a more just and humane world. The different levels (Gold, Platinum, Diamond) represent the available contribution levels. Sustaining members will be recognized on our website and in the program for the Annual Meeting. Many thanks to our sustaining members.

The following are deceased sustaining members to whom we will always be grateful: Gray Cavender, William R. Freudenburg, John F. Galliher, Kathleen S. Lowney, and JoAnn L. Miller.
