The 2024 C. Wright Mills Award Committee selected Dr. Duana Fullwiley’s book, Tabula Raza: Mapping Race and Human Diversity in American Genome Science, University of California Press, as this year's winner.

Dr. Fullwiley

Dr. Teresa Córdova, Chair of the 2024 C. Wright Mills Award Committee said of Dr. Fullwiley's work:

"The breadth and depth of Tabula Raza's ethnographic narratives, the way it intersects conversations in medical anthropology with socio-cultural studies and politics of race and ancestry not only pushed the boundaries of disciplines but offered a fresh and provocative perspective on race and the human genome. Beautifully written and theoretically evocative and imaginative, Tabula Raza has the power to allow us to rethink what we know about racial justice, structures and US American racism, thus letting us reimagine what a path to justice may look like. This book is utterly deserving of the C. Wright Mills Award."

Congratulations, Dr. Fulwilley!
