Deadline to Apply for SSSP Travel Funds is Approaching (Deadline: March 15)

SSSP has established four travel funds for members to attend the 2026 Annual Meeting. All applicants must be a 2026 SSSP member at the time of application and should apply to only one fund. Join or renew.

• Unemployed and underemployed sociologists: Erwin O. Smigel Award
• Students (undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral): Lee Student Support Fund
• International students: Lee Student Support Fund 
• Non-U.S. based international scholars from politically, economically, and culturally oppressed groups in disadvantaged countries not considered part of the Global South: Lee Scholar Support Fund
• International scholars from the Global South (as defined by the American Sociological Association): Transnational Initiatives Fund.

We are now accepting nominations/applications for several awards. Deadlines vary for these awards: Arlene Kaplan Daniels Paper Award, Doris Wilkinson Faculty Leadership Award, Joseph B. Gittler Award, Kathleen S. Lowney Mentoring Award, SWS Beth B. Hess Memorial Scholarship, Thomas C. Hood Social Action Award, and Travel Fund Awards.

Attend the SSSP Virtual Poster Mini-Conference

The first Virtual Poster Mini-Conference will be held March 27 from 2:00-4:00pm (Eastern Time). As a member benefit, all participants—including presenters and attendees—are expected to be 2026 members and register for the event.
