Accepting Nominations for the 2026 Lee Founders Award

Established in 1981, the Lee Founders Award is made in recognition of significant lifetime achievements demonstrating a devotion to the ideals of the founders of the Society and especially to the humanist tradition of Alfred McClung Lee and Elizabeth Briant Lee. Members of the Society may now nominate one or more persons for the award. Deadline: February 20, 2026.

Call for Books for the 2026 Author Meets Critics Sessions in New York City

We are pleased to announce the Call for Books for the 2026 Annual Meeting – Author Meets Critics Sessions. Program Chair Hadi Khoshneviss and his committee will select two books to be featured on the program.

Author Meets Critic Sessions are designed to bring authors of recent books considered to be important contributions to the study of social problems and the advancement of social justice together with discussants chosen to provide different viewpoints. Only books published in 2024 or 2025 are eligible for nomination. You must be a current SSSP member to submit a nomination. All nominations must be submitted online. Self-nominations are not accepted. At the discretion of the Program Chair, the Committee may invite authors whose work is particularly relevant to the theme, “Resisting Colonization of Lifeworlds.” Proposals must be submitted to the Program Chair by December 15, 2025.
