San Francisco Walking Tours, Conferences, and Workshop Get Your Tickets While They Last!

In addition to all of the exciting sessions, panel discussions, and events of the 2014 Annual Meeting, we are pleased to offer optional conferences, a workshop, and walking tours for our attendees.

Optional Conferences/Workshop

No fee to attend this conference.

ONE-DAY CONFERENCE: INNOVATIVE PROGRAMMATIC AND POLICY RESPONSES TO POVERTY    
Monday, August 18, 8:30am-5:00pm
Location: The San Francisco Marriott Marquis
Cost: $100 for employed faculty/practitioners; $70 for unemployed/community activists/students

INSTITUTIONAL ETHNOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Monday, August 18, 8:30am-5:00pm
Location: The San Francisco Marriott Marquis 
Cost: $100 for employed registrants or $70 for unemployed/activist and student registrants

Each tour offers insight into a different facet of San Francisco's rich history of social justice.

WALKING TOUR: Delancey Street Foundation
Saturday, August 16, 10:15am-12:30pm (includes travel time)
Tickets: $20 per person

WALKING TOUR: We Want to Stay: Western Addition Neighborhood Activism in Response to Post-WWII Urban Redevelopment 
Sunday, August 17, 12:30pm-3:30pm (includes travel time)
Tickets: $25 per person (includes MUNI bus fare)

Social Problems Editorial Offices are moving!

The editorial offices of Social Problems are moving to the University of Illinois at Chicago on June 1, 2014. As of June 1, all new submissions and all revised submissions will be the responsibility of Pamela Anne Quiroz and Nilda Flores-Gonzalez.

Nominations for the Joseph B. Gittler award, due April 15

The Joseph B. SSSP sends letter expressing concern over University of Southern Maine's proposed cuts

On behalf of SSSP's Board of Directors, Executive Officer Héctor Delgado wrote a letter to express grave concerns about the University of Southern Maine's decision to lay-off tenured and tenure-track faculty and to close academic programs on a scale rarely seen, especially in higher education. Click here to read the letter sent to University of Southern Maine President Theodora Kalikow.
