2024 Indigenous Peoples’ Social Justice Award

At the 2024 Annual Meeting, SSSP awarded the Indigenous Peoples’ Social Justice Award and contributed $500 to the Iskweu Project. Part of the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, the Iskweu Project is an initiative addressing the MMIWG2S+ crisis, responding to the immediate need for assistance expressed by families and loved ones when an Indigenous woman or girl (including trans, Two-Spirit) goes missing. SSSP J21 Committee – Publicity and Outreach Position Available (application deadline: COB 9/27/24)

The Justice 21 Committee (J21) is seeking to recruit a graduate level student to serve on the Committee, focusing on Publicity and Outreach for a two-year term. Those interested should send a: (1) brief 250-500 word essay explaining their interest, (2) a short list of ideas they initially have for the position, and (3) an academic CV. The individual serving in this position will receive complimentary student membership throughout their term of service. Scholars at Risk United States 2nd General Assembly

Scholars at Risk will host the second General Assembly of the United States in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 16 and 17. The meeting will bring together scholars, leaders, and advocates from SAR member universities and educational associations across the nation to discuss strategies and build solidarity for promoting academic freedom locally, in the U.S., and around the world.
